In a world where challenges are as abundant as opportunities, women have consistently shown their extraordinary ability to rise, adapt, and overcome. The 2024 BIBO Awards, themed "The Next Chapter," celebrated this very essence. It was a privilege to not only attend this inspiring event but also sponsor and support an organization that resonates deeply with my mission to empower women.

Traci S. Campbell, the heartbeat of the BIBO family, is a woman whose life purpose is a reflection of resilience and determination and her journey has been nothing short of awe-inspiring. Traci, hailing from Baltimore, Maryland, who was raised by a single mother instilling in her the values of education and self-reliance, defied the odds, pursued a successful IT consulting career after earning a degree in computer science from the University of Maryland. But her impact goes far beyond her professional achievements. Her dedication to her mother’s legacy, whom she lovingly cared for over a decade, helped shape her compassionate and driven character to become a dynamic leader in the nonprofit sector, using her platform to empower women and create lasting change. Traci’s story is truly a testament to the power of perseverance, education, and the unwavering support of loved ones.

Founded in 2013, BIBO, which stands for "Beauty In | Beauty Out," has celebrated the achievements of over 100 women across cities like Atlanta, Chicago, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. The 2024 BIBO Awards marked a significant comeback after a seven-year hiatus, returning with a renewed purpose and a steadfast commitment to supporting women in a world that has experienced profound changes since 2017. The theme, "The Next Chapter," highlighted the unbreakable spirit of women's resilience, even in the face of global challenges. As the world faced a pandemic, political and social unrest, and economic uncertainty, the women honored at this event exemplified the unyielding strength that defines BIBO's mission.

Meet the Presentors - BIBO Awards

This year’s ceremony was a true celebration of extraordinary women who have made indelible marks in their fields. Among them were inspiring leaders like Dr. Rita McGill, who received the Achievement in Medicine award. A dedicated renal disease physician with a heart of gold, Dr. McGill’s journey from rural private practice to teaching at the University of Chicago exemplifies her commitment to healthcare and patient advocacy.

2024 BIBO Award Recipients

Rebecca Wallenfelsz and Sophia Ruffolo, co-founders of femmebought, were honored with the Achievement in Entrepreneurial Education award. Both women have been instrumental in creating a supportive community for women entrepreneurs. Their work at femmebought, along with their other professional achievements, has empowered countless women to pursue their dreams and build thriving businesses.

The BIBO Legacy Award was presented to Mary Smith, a true pioneer in the funeral home industry. From her humble beginnings, Mary built a successful business empire in a male-dominated field, employing hundreds of individuals and offering second chances to those reentering society after imprisonment. Her legacy is a testament to the power of determination and community spirit.

Leslie Ferris Yerger was honored with the Achievement in Breast Cancer Awareness award for her relentless advocacy in breast cancer screening and awareness. After her own battle with Stage IV breast cancer, Leslie founded My Density Matters, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women to take control of their health and screening options.

The Achievement in Media award was given to Mary Datcher, a journalist and marketing specialist whose influence in the music and entertainment industry spans nearly three decades.
